TUESDAY, JUNE 18th 6 pm: This is the corner of Bloor Street and Euclid Streets in Toronto's rapidly growing KoreaTown. Vans and Fans. Both Turkish and South Korean Flags and Fans. Viewed: 1800 times.

With the time difference between Toronto and South Korea and Japan, where the World Cup Soccer matches are being played, the games were completed in the early hours of this morning. Toronto does not yet have a dedicated 'Little Turkey' or 'Little Istanbul' street. I don't think the South Koreans mind sharing their Main Drag of KoreaTown with their Fellow Turkish Fans though. I saw a quite a few Red Turkish flags with the red and white crescent mixed in with the Yin and Yang of the Koreans'. Including this black sportscar with the Turkish flag blazened across the hood. This is the black sportscar from the previous shot. The light turned green at the intersection and unexpectedly the Turkish fans in this car began to move forward. I was caught off guard but still tried to get a good shot. This car seemed to have the Yellingest Turkish Fans of all I saw this evening. Viewed: 2739 times.

It was just past 6 p.m. and the local TV news sports reports were about to be aired. To the left here you can see them setting up. This is the remote crew from CTV/CFTO Channel 8. Of all the streets in Toronto that represent different countries and their people, the South Koreans seemed to outparty them all... even the Italians, who the South Korean Soccer team had eliminated earlier in the day. This is one of the main intersections in Toronto's KoreaTown. It sez 'Business Area' but Today, June 16th, it became the 'Korean Party Area' with the world cup soccer win over Italy. Viewed: 3178 times.

These Crazy Korean Kids! They took over their store's supply truck and converted it into what I told SportsReporter Kathryn Humphreys of CityTV, The Korean Embassy. This Truck just kept going around the block and every time it turned back onto Bloor Street, the cheering would bump up another notch. Viewed: 2580 times.

In the bottom left of the photo is Karlene Nation From CTV News. She covers cultural events, not sports, but what the heck, this was a party, and CTV sent their party reporter to cover this Street Party for the evening sportscast just about to air live in a coupla minutes. I found this all a great distraction from the news earlier in the day about Greg's / Adam_Baum's death, but when I took this photo, I thought about downloading it into my camera then uploading it to the gallery module on my PostNuked site...That made me think of PostNuke and Greg again. Looking East on Bloor Street from Manning Avenue, this black car stops and trades some cheering with the fans on the street. South Korean. Turkish. It don't matter. All an excuse for a day long street party. Viewed: 2251 times.

The Mobile Korean Embassy makes another run through KoreaTown. The lady beside me is recording the same scene on her digital camcorder. Things are winding down, these crazy kids are probably off to a dinner break before returning to Street Party late into the night. Time for me to get back home and probably surf and read the latest comments on PostNuke.com about adam_baum/Greg Allan. Viewed: 2785 times.
